Job Title: Assistant State Veterinarian

Overview:
Support Arizona’s Animal Health and Welfare Program through fieldwork and subject matter expertise in key livestock and animal disease programs. Serve as a liaison for emergency response and assist with statewide animal health initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead field investigations and disease programs for bovine, swine, and poultry health (e.g., TB, Brucellosis, Avian Influenza, Pseudorabies)

• Conduct Foreign Animal Disease (FAD) investigations

• Coordinate Arizona Livestock Incident Response Team and serve as liaison

• Cross-train in areas such as aquaculture, equine programs, rabies cases, and disease traceability

• Support emergency preparedness and response efforts

• Perform outreach and education with agencies, counties, tribes, and youth groups (FFA/4-H)

• Supervise an Administrative Assistant

Requirements:

• Ability to drive a state vehicle

• Maintain confidentiality with agency leadership and partners
