Hourly Wage: $16.50

Shift: 12:30PM- 8:30PM

Job Description:

We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Cook to join our hospital kitchen team. As a Cook, you will play a crucial role in our mission to provide high-quality and nutritious meals to patients, visitors, and staff. You will be responsible for accurately and efficiently preparing, portioning, grilling, and presenting a variety of hot and/or cold food items for various meal periods, including Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Special/Catered Events.

Key Responsibilities:

• Food Preparation: Prepare a wide variety of menu items according to prescribed recipes and portioning, ensuring high standards of quality and presentation.
• Grilling and Cooking: Grill, fry, or otherwise cook food items to perfection, adhering to all safety and hygiene standards.
• Menu Knowledge: Stay updated on current menu choices, dietary restrictions, and allergies, ensuring special dietary needs are met.
• Hygiene and Safety: Adhere to all sanitation and food production codes, maintaining a clean and organized workspace. Wear a hairnet and maintain personal hygiene standards, including no fake fingernails, nail polish, and close-shaved facial hair (if applicable).

Requirements:

• Previous experience as a Cook or in a similar culinary role is preferred, especially in a healthcare or institutional setting.
• Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling, etc.).
• Must be able to provide a TB test and a copy of an updated shot record.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain composure under pressure.
• Must be able to work weekends.

Working Conditions:

This position requires working on your feet, lifting heavy objects, and working in a busy kitchen environment within a hospital setting. The ability to bend, stoop, and move swiftly is essential.
